I'm running for City Council!
Let me share with you my ballot statement I just filed with the City Clerk.
Finishing up my term as Torrance School Board President, I now have the opportunity to serve as your City Councilmember. I’m proud of my accomplishments on the school board and as an award-winning teacher in our own Torrance Unified School District. Now that our current City Councilmember is termed out, it would be a great privilege to continue my service to our community as Councilmember to the city that has meant so much to me and my family.
I was raised here, progressing from neighborhood kid and Torrance High grad to husband, father, homeowner, local teacher, and elected official. Torrance has meant so much to my family and me. We felt so humbled when the Torrance/South Bay YMCA named us their 2019 Family of the Year.
My experience balancing the 300-million-dollar budget of the Torrance Unified School District and overseeing programs for 22,000 students and over 3,000 employees has prepared me to take on the challenges our city faces: maintaining a high level of public safety, growing our financial reserves, addressing homelessness, increasing sustainability, and making Torrance an even better place to live, work, and play.
As your elected Torrance School Board Member, I have helped our schools recover from COVID and make significant improvements.
Achievements on the School Board:
-
Second and largest school district to return to in-person learning after COVID shutdown
-
Increased student enrollment
-
Balanced 300-million-dollar school budget
-
Managed over 3,600 employees
-
Provided education programs for 21,780 students
Now, I have the opportunity to serve as City Councilmember for our district and the entire City of Torrance.
Here are a few of my priorities:
-
Maintaining a high level of public safety
-
Providing outstanding city services
-
Growing our financial reserves
-
Addressing homelessness
-
Increasing sustainability
